Alternative Energy Industry Returns
Alternative energy stocks are squarely up for the quarter on average, beating the trend of the broader stock market over the same time period. Smart grid and wind stocks have done particularly well over the past three months. About 90% of smart grid and wind stocks are trading up, with the average up stock gaining over 20% for the quarter.
Annual returns remain in negative territory on average, with only about a third to alternative energy companies trading in the black. Smart grid and environmental stocks are faring the best, trending in line with overall market averages for the year.
